Internet marketing can be confusing. Very confusing. All that jargon about affiliate marketing, email marketing, viral marketing, search engine optimization… Well, you get the point.

A dictionary search on the word “marketing” proved enlightening…

Marketing – To expose for sale in a market.

And the definition of “sell”,

Sell – To give up (something) to another for something of value.

That’s it. And in my definition, marketing is simply to deliver something of value to another and to make selling superfluous. Think about this one…

The internet is simply a medium for that delivery. People are looking for information that can help them to get what they want. At the end of the day, it is about getting your message across.
